Global Systemic Crisis / End of 2017: High turbulence zone! Finance – Freedom – Security – Kaliningrad: Avoid the Third World War now!
More than three years after the Ukraine-related Euro-Russian catastrophe, there is no hope of an end to this crisis. On the contrary, the tension inexorably keeps climbing: Donbass still at war, annexation of Crimea by Russia not recognised by the international community,… the eyes are now turning to the Baltic Sea where demonstrations of military testosterone is progressing well on both sides of the new iron curtain[1]. Not far from Gdansk, the former Danzig, whose corridor contributed to the outbreak of the Second World War, another corridor is now the object of all desire and may become a trigger of nothing less than a Third World War: the corridor, or the triangle, of Suwalki... An Investment Crisis in Europe: Towards a forceful takeover of the EIB
Good news abounds in the eurozone, notably for the economic matters, with a "recovery" making Mr. Trump and Mrs. May jealous. This even encourages the ECB to consider reducing its quantitative easing programme earlier than expected, namely in January , before halting it in September 2018. Investments go up, unemployment declines , and surprisingly enough, so does the public debt. So, is everything going well in Europe? This is a rather hasty conclusion... United Kingdom: Towards a May-xit
"Since there is no future, the wanderings of the past are back in Europe". On this topic, our team finds interesting to identify some sort of an echo of the Continental Blockade within the Brexit affair. There will be of course no strict parallel, but it might show that Brexit is at least as much the result of a rejection of the UK by the continent as the other way around. It is a fact that the glorious decade of the UK's reign over the EU dates back to the 1990s. From the mid-2000s onwards, the entire continent mobilised in order to put the UK back in its place. Consequently, the latter lost its tactical advantage of being a connecting point between the United States and the EU. The process thus triggered (influencing UK's initiative on the continent) logically extended to a complete exit, the Brexit. By taking a closer look, since the symbolic "departure" of the UK in June 2016, the EU is stepping up a process of reorganisation... (GEAB 118 - Oct 2017 / Log in)
Strategic Recommendations
Task force versus government or task force versus task force?
In order to negotiate with the United Kingdom on the Brexit issue, in 2017 the European institutions set up a unit to prepare and conduct negotiations with the UK, the "Taskforce on Article 50 negotiations with the United Kingdom". Being ruled by Michel Barnier, chief negotiator, this represents the 27 EU member states. The mission of the Task Force is to coordinate all the work of the European Commission on strategic, operational, legal and financial issues in the framework of the negotiations with the UK, whilst being supported politically by all the departments of the European Commission . The Task Force is subject to a series of measures which ensure transparency of the entire negotiating process and reports to the European institutions (European Commission, European Parliament and European Council) on the state of negotiations at each stage of the process... Catalonia: Re-thinking the political-institutional architecture of the European Union
The Catalan crisis has a whiff of the Spanish civil war, proportion wise. Rajoy government's serious mistakes in managing the crisis of the independence referendum are due to the fact that Spain does not have a far-right party (like most other western countries); this political trend is completely integrated into the classic right-wing party, Mariano Rajoy's People Party. Thus, instead of managing with finesse, the Catalans’ unconstitutional inclinations of independence have been treated frontally in a violence resulting in radicalisation. Catalans will soon have no choice but to be independantists or traitors to the cause, whilst the majority is in reality autonomist and expects Madrid to lower down the tension... General Recommendation - Alert: Large zone of turbulence by the end of the year
It is of course impossible to guess what the end of the year will precisely look like. Nevertheless, we wish to draw our readers' attention to the fact that the whole planet is currently in a general and simultaneous repositioning phase. The United States gives the final blow to an international system (WTO, UN, Unesco, etc.) which it no longer controls. Military expenditures are exploding all around in a race for technological primacy (multipolar arms race). Governments are swinging one by one towards a hard right-wing, which soon will no longer be called the far-right (Austria, Italy, Spain, USA, Russia, India, Turkey, Israel, Brazil, etc.). The parties belonging to the institutional left have been blown out of the water, whilst the radical movements of the left-wing (called "the populists", see 5-star movement) fill in large rooms ... From Dieselgate to Kobe-steel
The latest affair, Kobe-steel, has just highlighted a new scandal of false quality controls, a scandal in the same vein and which affects the same players in the industrial and economic business world as the Dieselgate, ie. that of the automobile in the foreground, but not exclusively. It concerns a backlog of more than 500 companies (knowing that the revelations are made in drops around the world) to which Kobe-steel has delivered products and derivatives the technical characteristics of which have been deliberately falsified. Among these companies, we find European and international automotive industry names, as well as transportation, shipbuilding, high-speed trains , aeronautics and aerospace, such as Boeing , Airbus, armaments, information technology, nuclear names as Tepco (with direct deliveries), and perhaps Areva in France...
